Having sold and purchased several homes before, Madeline and Skip Moore were not ready for the tempo and pace of the current competitive market. After losing a few bids and feeling the disappointment from that, Janelle Fazackerley dug in her heels to help the Moore’s find the perfect house for them.

What was the hardest part of the process?
“When we thought we found the perfect home but lost out we thought, ‘Oh this is bad.’ Janelle guided us through the process and didn’t give up on finding us a home we could love.”

So what surprised you most about the buying process?
“We have purchased and sold other homes here and in the East Bay. We’ve even built homes. The housing market and buying a house isn’t what it used to be. We ran into situations where people were offering all cash with no contingencies.”

How did Janelle prepare you for the process?
“I think we looked at over 100 houses. Janelle would warn us if a particular house might be a crazy one with 16 offers or this might work. Her experience is what gave us perspective.”

What was it like working with Janelle on the search for your home?
“Besides being an excellent realtor, she’s very tough and involved with her clients even afterward, which is very unusual. She’s calm, and she was always there for us through the whole process. We consider her a friend now as she still keeps in touch with us.”

Buying a home can be stressful. How did Janelle help with the stress of the process?
“Well, you’ve got to have your ducks in a row. You have to have the financing, have an inspector ready because you only have a few minutes and you might have to write an offer that night. So this is where Janelle’s professionalism comes in. You cannot have amateurs, and that’s where Front Porch makes a difference.”

So what do you like best about your home?
“We never planned on owning a log cabin. We never planned on owning a vineyard. I didn’t even drink wine when we got it. But it has its charm. It’s on a quarter acre, and he’s a big gardener. We ended up with a home that we love even though this wasn’t what we were looking for.”

If you had a friend who was starting the buying process, what would you tell them about working with Front Porch?
“It’s very easy to refer Janelle and Front Porch. If she weren’t available, someone from Front Porch would be there right away when we needed them. They crossed the T’s and dotted the I’s which is what you need in this market. We wouldn’t trust anyone else if ever move again, which we probably won’t.”
