The Engebrechts had bought and sold homes before but had decided to move into one of Marin’s most competitive neighborhoods. They wanted an Eichler in Upper Lucas Valley where there is limited inventory, and some people wait years to buy a home there. Yoko Kasai was able to get them their dream home because of her tenacity and focus.
What was the hardest part of the process?
“Even though we had been through it before, this time I was more stressed out than ever before. We had to sell a house and buy a new one without a gap but with the funds from the sale to put into the new house. I didn’t know if we were able to make it happen.”
So what surprised you most about the buying process?
“I knew the market and had been watching it, so I wasn’t surprised by it. I was surprised about how stressful it was for me and how crazy I felt. But Yoko was always there to reassure me.”
How did Yoko prepare you for the process?
“She was great about helping us prepare our home. She arranged all the inspections, helped me with staging and even set up a broker preview so we had feedback on the house as well as how we should price it.”
What was it like working with Yoko on the search for your home?
“Yoko went above and beyond. She stayed in touch with the agents in Upper Lucas Valley and was able to give us access to inventory before it was listed as well as see a couple of pocket listings. Without this pre-listing access to inventory, we would not have been able to jump on the house that we purchased.”
Buying a home can be stressful. How did Yoko help with the stress of the process?
“She answered all my weird stressed out voicemails, texts and emails. They were endless, but she was always empathetic and patient with me.”
So what do you like best about your home?
“The view from our backyard. It’s always hard to pick the right house, and it’s easy to doubt your choice. But we feel we found the perfect home for us.”
If you had a friend who was starting the buying process, what would you tell them about working with Front Porch?
“If you want an agent who has a great reputation amongst other agents and can get the job done, Yoko is your agent. Seriously, if it weren’t for her professionalism and assertiveness, we wouldn’t have been able to get this house.”
